Green Heron


Green Heron (Butorides virescens).  This delightful little bird was photographed locally in San Angelo, Texas.  They are present nearly year around here.  This one pictured is a mature adult.

  1. I took a picture of one in my development yesterday, didn’t know what it was. Salisbury, Maryland.

    • Thanks, Ted. Ironically, the mature ones don’t look that green, except the head and back of the neck look a bit bluish green when the light is right. Thanks for writing.
