Okay folks, get out your bird guides and prepare to answer this question: What bird is this?? Our first quiz was well received and every seems to be having a lot of fun with it. Please select your choice of what bird you think it is, in the poll below the picture. If you’re not sure, take a guess. No one will know what your selection is. Maybe you will get hooked and become a real birder. 🙂 By the way, it is not “cheating” to use your bird guide. The purpose of my having these quizzes it to get you to into reading your guides, and discovering the differences in the species. And you will have the best chance of getting the correct ID especially on this quiz.

Thanks for letting me camp out in your blog today. I had a great time and tried to leave my campsite as clean as when I arrived.
Thanks for that. 🙂
It is NOT an American Robin/Robin Redbreast. 😉

You have to wait until Friday to find out for sure. 🙂
I’m having an educated guess at this one, Bob, because I have seen it in one of your previous posts. I could be wrong, because we don’t have most of the birds you see over here, and I haven’t looked back at the posts, or in a book because we don’t have any bird books! I just want to see if I am right from memory! I have voted for Spotted Towhee!
I’m going to feel like a right ‘wally’ if I’m wrong!
Cheers
John
We will have to wait until Friday to see if you are right – or wrong. Thanks for voting, John. 🙂
The eastern cousin of this bird is one that we see and hear around here quite frequently 🙂 This time I did not even have to consult my bird book (but I would have had to over a year ago!!).
I didn’t offer the Eastern Spotted as a choice as I thought people might get confused, as they were once defined as only one specie. Thanks for the comment, and I am glad that you are enjoying my quizzes. 🙂
Fun idea for these quizzes Bob. By the way, if you’d like to be quizzed, I’m just back from my cruise, and I’ve definitely got some birds that need identifying. Not sure when I’ll get to posting their pictures, but I can let you know if you’d like!
Sure, Karen, I would love see your pictures and try to ID them. Just let me know. Thanks a bunch. 🙂
Nice clear shot of what has been an elusive species for me Bob.
Thanks, Ron, I really apprecite it.
I read my guide, although you forced me to get up and walk to my secondary library to get my book of non-California birds. I only keep California stuff next to my desk. lol
Thanks, Russell. I appreciate what you have done to get your vote in. 🙂
That was devilishly fun! I love these quizzes! Thanks a lot!
Thanks so much, Michele. Results next Friday, then another quiz will follow next Saturday. I am so glad you are enjoying them. 🙂
I have not idea of the names of many birds! But I really enjoy watching your pictures! 🙂
Thank you very much, Ana. I appreciate your kind words. 🙂
Such a lovely shot..Nature just really amazes me daily with its beauty and wonder. Love the quiz..and it is keeping me sharpened in seeing who is really at my bird feeders. Take care and have a great Super Saturday..I am off to my little Golden Pond..
Thanks a bunch, Syl. Have a great afternoon. 🙂
I voted too, it was so much fun. THANK you Mr. Bob. Lovely picture. 🙂
Thank you, Nandina, we’ll do it again next week.
Sure! 🙂 I’m eager to wait for the answer. 😀
I will post the answer next Friday. I like to give as many people as possible a chance to vote. Be patient, my dear. 🙂
Oh patience is all I have. 🙂
This is such a great idea Bob…tons o fun!!
Thanks, David. I am glad everyone is enjoying it. 🙂
Grin, that was a fun one Bob!
I knew you would enjoy it. Thanks,Mia.
Beautiful Image of the ________, Bob. I’m guessing I probably even know the location of the tree where you shot it 😉
I bet you knew what it was, Jim. 🙂
I bet you’re right, Bob 🙂 But if I blurted out the question to the quiz then it would ruin the fun for everybody 🙂
or even the answer…gosh I think I’ve had too long of a day 🙂
I don’t mind if people say what they think it is, but I will not comment on their answer. But it would be preferable if they didn’t say anything at all about what they think it is. 🙂
Thanks for doing these, Bob! A lot of fun and educational!
Thanks, Ted. My intent was to do what you mentioned, have fun, and learn a little about birds. 🙂
Whatever the name, it’s a beautiful bird.
Thanks,Martina, it certainly is. I appreciate the comment. 🙂
