Tale of two herons…

On Friday, to get out of the house for a change we headed to Spring Creek Park.  Again, still now much in the way of birding.  However, I got this photo of a Great Blue Heron hunting in the water.

Then this morning as Ann and I were leaving McDonalds Restaurant after breakfast, this Yellow-crowned Night Heron was along the nearby creek.

It pays to always have a camera handy.  Click on either photo to see an enlargement.

  1. Bob, the fledgling great blue heron is gorgeous – your ohoto really shows the russet tone to the feathers – as is the yellow-crowned. We have great blues, black-crowned night, and green herons here, but I’ve never seen a yellow-crowned one. Maybe I should look closer to the McDonald’s down the road. What do you think? Best, Babsje

    • Yes, I hear they like a Happy Meal. 🙂 Thanks for the comment, Babs, I see from your own blog that you really are into herons, too. They are one of my favorite subjects to photograph, probably because they are here the year around. Visit again. 🙂
